Manthan is our club's benchmark project wherein from last year we have initiated the concept of organizing Indian Mock Parliament. We organize this event every year where the participant face off with each other in a fierce political debate. The debate does not have any influence of the political parties.

This year's Concept:
The bill is introduced by the government thus this is a Government's bill, if a bill is introduced by any other member of the parliament then it becomes Private Member's Bill.
The Participant has to register by filling the form below.. The participant can chose to be on the Government's, opposition's side or s/he can choose to be an independent.
Government's Side: This means that the participant is favoring the bill i.e s/he wants the 49% FDI in defense.
Opposition's Side: This means that the participant is NOT in favor of the bill i.e s/he does not want 49% FDI in Defense.
Independent: This means that the participant is not completely against or not completely for this bill. These participants are going to play an important role.
On the day of the Event we start the event by segregating government and opposition participants into two sections for elections.
The government people have to elect ONE of theirs as a PRIME MINISTER (PM). The PM has to select his own CABINET.
Whereas in the mean time, the opposition people have to elect their OPPOSITION LEADER.
Any member from the PM's cabinet can opt to read out the copy of the bill which is given in the link above. Here the participant can also enumerate some key points of this bills which are not mentioned in the link above.
During this round 1, the opposition party members have to give their names to the SPEAKER if they intent to voice any amendments to the bill.
The names will be called out by the speaker after which only the participant can have the chance to voice their amendments.
EACH PARTICIPANTS WILL GET ONLY 3 MINUTES TO STATE THEIR AMENDMENT. EXTENDED 1 MINUTE CAN BE GIVEN ONLY WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE SPEAKER. This will be followed by any questions by the speaker.
During round 2, the government party members have to give their names to the SPEAKER if they intent to voice their points which favor the bill.
The names will be called out by the speaker after which only the participant can have the chance to voice their bill favoring points.

Question Answer Round.
Any member of the session can ask a question to the government which need not be based on the bill.
We put the bill to vote. here the independents have a important role to play as others will see where do their inclination tends to after hearing from both the sides.
